Lomi Lomi

Lomi lomi is the authentic bodywork system of Hawaii. It is so much more than just a physical massage and truly is holistic, uniting bodywork with a prayer-like quality of clear intention to harmonise the body, mind and spirit.

This intention is focussed on the Hawaiian spirit of 'Aloha' which has a myriad of meanings including love, grace and compassion – but in the practice of Lomi lomi the meaning goes beyond any definition you can find in dictionaries - the closest translation being 'the presence of Divine breath'.

Lomi lomi is a full-body sweeping oil massage where the practitioner uses their forearms, hands and sometimes elbows, in long rhythmic strokes and stretches, varying in depth and intensity. The strokes blend into one another in one continuous flow of dynamic yet relaxing movement.

It clears, nurtures, relaxes, restores, opens, stretches and reconnects all systems of the body – the muscular, circulatory, lymphatic, digestive, immune and energy systems.

For many, Lomi lomi is a spiritual experience, allowing the receiver to let go of stress and feel totally accepted just as they are, facilitating a deep sense of wellbeing, raising self-esteem, bringing the joy of life to your body and a feeling of peace to your mind. Because it is so relaxing it is excellent for releasing the physical, mental and emotional stress that can be caused by modern living.

The couch is oiled enabling the therapist to work on both the front and back of the body at the same time.

N.B. Because of the full body sweeps which create the flow of Lomi it is preferable that you receive it without the hinderance of clothes - this brings about a deep level of trust between client and therapist and enables the client to experience a profound level of freedom and surrender.

We offer 1&1/2 or 2 hour sessions of Lomi lomi offering two or four-handed sessions and charge £55 per hour per therapist.
